Frosty's Ice cream is located at 8600 East Oak Island Drive, near the Domino's Pizza. They serve real ice cream, not the soft serve. Ice cream treats include homemade waffle cones, sundaes, banana splits, real (not the fast food machine kind) milkshakes, and tornadoes, which are milkshakes with your choice of toppings mixed in. The owners are likely to be working behind the counter and take ice cream seriously. In addition to ice cream, they sell a variety of candies, shells, and other souvenirs.
Oak Island Jungle Golf
Located at 6321 East Oak Island Drive, this complex contains a miniature golf course and games arcade as well as an ice cream shop. How could the kids not love a cool treat and an air conditioned game arcade, after a miniature golf game?
Tropical Treats, Bubbas Gift Shop, and Side Street Cafe
Tropical Treats serves 24 flavors of soft serve ice cream treats at 5811 East Oak Island Drive. They also sell gifts and rent scooters.
Bubbas Gift Shop is located at 5825 East Oak Island Drive in the same strip mall. They sell a range of beach souvenirs as well as homemade fudge to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Right next door you will find the Side Street Cafe. You can have a lunch of burgers and similar fare with ice cream or milkshakes for desert.
Right across the street you will see Eagles, which is a large shop selling a wide range of beach vacation items.
Lucias Italian Ice
They sell Italian ice in your favorite flavor at 5820 East Oak Island Drive. Also look for their pushcart while you are on the beach.
Dairy Queen
The Oak Island Dairy Queen is located at 5703 East Oak Island Drive. It's a national chain, so it will be just like the Dairy Queen at home.
Oak Island Fudge and Gift
Oak Island Fudge and Gift is located at 6018 East Oak Island Drive, just across the street from the Food Lion. The fudge is sold inside along with various beach souvenirs and gifts. Outside in the Leaky Tiki, they sell ice cream, lemonade, and other sweet treats.
The Food Lion across the street is Oak Island's largest grocery store. You can pick up some ice cream to take home while you are getting your groceries.
Coming Soon
As this article was being researched, there appeared to be a new sandwich and ice cream shop opening at the corner of Country Club Drive and Elizabeth Drive, just after crossing the bridge onto Oak Island. The building was not yet complete, but signs in the window indicated that one of the shops opening soon would sell ice cream as well as sandwiches and similar items.
