The city of Charlotte is growing at a rapid rate. As a result, business travel and tourism is also on the rise. As with many cities, visitors to Charlotte are often interested in its uptown (or downtown) area. Although the Crowne Plaza Hotel is not in the core of uptown, it is within walking distance of most popular destinations and thus a convenient place to lodge.
Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina
Uptown Charlotte is home to several financial institutions and corporations including Wachovia, Bank of America, and Meineke Car Care Center. It is also the home of the Charlotte Bobcats (Time Warner Cable Arena) and the Carolina Panthers (Bank of America Stadium). Uptown Charlotte offers many restaurants, night clubs and shopping venues. However, if visiting, note that most businesses in the uptown area (including restaurants) are closed on Sunday.
Hotel Rooms at the Crowne Plaza Charlotte
Crowne Plaza guests can choose from a standard room, executive room or suite. Standard rooms include two double beds or one king size bed, a large work desk with executive chair, bath with both tub and shower, and dresser with lots of storage space. Executive rooms are more spacious and include a sleeper sofa, microwave oven and mini-refrigerator. The Crowne Plaza suites are the most spacious of the rooms. Suites come standard with a king bed, office space and separate living area.
Much of the hotel has been renovated in the last few years. This includes remodeling of the rooms with changes in the carpet, wallpaper, updates in the bathroom and plush bedding. The hallways have also been redone. The decor is that of a very soft yellow, with floral carpeting and striped wallpaper. The rooms follow a similar decor but with darker carpeting. Although the updates are very nice, some of the finishing work on projects is incomplete (for example the fire sprinkler assembly is not complete).

On-site dining is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Chambers American Grill. The menu at Chambers consists of a wide array of dishes including omelets, salads, pizza, sandwiches, pastas and various desserts.
The hotel is about a ten minute drive from the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport and Lowe's Speedway, and a few miles from several shopping centers.
